John let himself into the mansion as he usually did, but this time he was here for far more of a specific purpose than usual. "Hello?" he called out, having not seen anyone yet.

Adrian shivered as he walked down the marbled steps of the Front Hall of Xavier's Mansion. I really should have put on socks for this, he thought as he gingerly tip-toed his way down the final stairs. He made his way as quietly as possible to the kitchen.
It was Adrian's first night in the mansion. Well, him and his brothers'. Aaron and Tayler were amazed at the size of the place, but Adrian was always creeped out by huge buildings. They all just seemed like they'd be haunted. Plus there was something about there being too big of rooms for people that can't fill them. Either way, Adrian was there, unable to sleep. And he was thirsty, so a trip to the kitchen for a glass of water seemed wise.
As Adrian made his way back through the kitchen into the Front Hall, he heard the door open and close. Adrian's heart automatically began racing. But then he heard whatever came through the door speak. "Hello?" it said. Well, not many bad things ask 'hello' when they come through a door. Must be a drunk student or something. Adrian walked as silently as possible into the Front Hall. He saw the silouhette of a figure in front of the grand entrance. "Hey," Adrian responded, "Why are you coming in so late? Who are you?"

John blinked. He hadn't expected such an abrupt response. "I'm uh... John... I'm looking for Jean."

Adrian moved forward to get a better look at the stranger named John, glass of water still in hand. "I'm sorry. I just arrived here today. I don't know who Jean is yet. I did hear someone mention the name, though." Adrian was now able to observe the person he was looking at due to the soft moonlight flooding in through the large windows in the grand entrance. The stranger was obviously gifted with attractiveness. However, Adrian couldn't help but notice that John looked like he hadn't had a good night's sleep in days. "But maybe you should wait till morning. You don't look so great. You can bunk with me for the night. There's an extra mattress in my room, and I can do without a few pillows and blankets for a night. If you want, that is."

"Well um... it's kind of important." Not only that, but John was quite used to sleeping on the couch when for whatever reason he didn't feel like driving back home. "...Thanks for the offer though."

"Alright," Adrian said, more that just a little bummed out that he wasn't going to share a room with an extremely handsome man, "But you should probably go to the Professor first. I'll take you to his room." Adrian suddenly realized how impolite he was being. "Oh, and I'm Adrian, if you care to know. It's nice to meet you, John. Do you want some water?" Adrian flicked his wrist, and half the contents of his glass emptied out into mid-air and swirled over to in front of John.

"Um, no thanks.." John had seen his fair share of weird in his life. Most of it in this school. "The Professor isn't here, though," he pointed out, "And I'm not so sure he's the one to help me."

"I hope I'm not speaking out of place or anything, but what's so important that you need to wake someone up for? Everyone's asleep, and no offense, but you don't look so great. You should really save your energy until tomorrow, John. Shit, but I'm probably talking out of place, huh?" Adrian just stood there, feeling very awkward and vulnerable. He never really felt this way before. Usually it was the other way around with guys he liked.

"It's...complicated," John wasn't sure how to explain it himself. "It has to do with..um..." he put his hand to his head, messaging his temple. "I don't actually know if it's safe for me to sleep."

The awkwardness left Adrian's body. His brow furrowed into concern. What did John mean by that? "I don't understand. Why would it be unsafe?"

"It's...complicated," he repeated, feeling quite a bit like a broken record. "I have these... visions," he explained, "and I can never tell if they're coming from the past or even the present. But, they have yet to fail to be true."

As Adrian listened to what John had to say, he felt it was necessary to bring back to his glass the water he had let meander about the expansive hallway. After John finished speaking, there was a slight pause. Almost guessing the answer, Adrian asked the inevitable question, "What exactly do you see in these dreams?"

A pained look crossed over John's face as he recalled all the horrific things he'd seen. "They change," he said at long last, his dark blue eyes sparkling slightly from the light from the windows as he turned his head. "Sometimes they're very vague other times..." he trailed off, trying to block the images out.

Adrian saw the pain that played over John's face. He took a step forward, now getting very worried. But why was he? He just met this person. He doesn't know a damn thing about him. But still, Adrian couldn't help feeling very concerned for John's safety. "John, please. You're in no condition to be looking for someone. You need to just relax somewhere. You don't have to sleep. If you want, I'll keep you awake." Adrian stepped closer to John. Hesitantly he put a gentle on John's shoulder and looked John in the eyes, letting him know how concerned he was.

John eyed Adrian's hand on his shoulder, but did nothing about it. It wasn't doing anything after all. He looked back at Adrian. "You don't have to, you know. I'll be fine waiting on the couch, I guess. I've done it before. It's kind of like camping."
