"I certainly don't have anywhere to go." John hopped off the stage landing next to Travis. He left his guitar for the "roadie" to pick up.

Travis lifted his beer up to John, in a sort of salute. "Beer it is then" and he started making his way towards the bar.

"So, what brings you to a place like this?"

"Mmm, just to get out I suppose. I like to be surronded by people and places like these are the easiest way to do it." he said reaching the bar and ordering JD a beer. "Though I wasn't expecting anyone I knew to be here, most likely because I haven't been here that long, but still."

"I've been here for a while and I still don't know very many people. Actaully, I think you're the first person who didn't walk away from me frightened after meeting me."

Travis gave him a look and handed him his beer, "Frightened? After meeting you? Why on earth would they be frightened?" he asked, geniunely puzzled.

"I tend to ramble when I meet new people... a lot. They find it off putting."

Travis gave him a saucy grin, "Nah, I find it rather charming." he said, "Although I'm used to people babbling on in my line of work, so I may be immune to it's repellant qualities."

"What kind of work do you do?"

Travis paused and pursed his lips slightly, thinking it over in his mind. "I suppose you could say I was in the information retrieval business." he said and his eyes narrowed sharply, an almost predatory smile coming onto his face.

John made a face. The phrasing was suspiscious, but he decided not to press. "You know, the majority of attornies in civil cases or defense lawyers use private investigators to retrieve information to help their case. Working hours are irregular and the work is dangerous and the pay really isn't so hot either. Many jurisdictions require PIs to be licensed, and they may or may not carry firearms depending on local laws. Nineteen out of the fifty states don't have concealed carry laws, though statistics have shown that the crime rate in states that do have them has declined."

Travis paused, absorbing the information. "And what's your opinion on that?" he asked.

"Hm?" John looked puzzled.

"On the concealed carry laws." Travis said, hoisting himself up onto the barstool.
